wall pieces
My hand-built ceramic wall pieces are the most recent evolution of my experience with clay. This work draws upon my interest in embellishing commercial and living spaces with textures, colors, and patterns.

The repetition of pattern and subject is a common theme throughout my work. It is influenced by an early education consisting of many years of dance and piano performance, both requiring a commitment to daily repetitive practice. Repetition creates an element of unity and texture within a specific piece. It is also a natural part of the graphic design process of my professional foundation, especially when creating logos. Making seemingly the same shapes over and over is a form of relaxation for my mind. Yet, upon close examination, each individual piece is actually different.
My first installation of “Love Knots” was inspired by my love of family and was made for the accent wall in my children’s New York living room. As with all my commissioned work, the installation was custom-designed specifically for the owner’s aesthetic, personality, and space. The multiple ceramic relief sculptures add exciting textural dimension to the room within an old, refurbished home that is otherwise very minimally decorated with a contemporary feel.
Opening on March 7, 2025, my second “love knots” work will be installed at Moore College of Art & Design. It consists of over 140 clay knots I made at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, where I am proudly an Associate member. The association of knots with love and connections has existed in many cultures since ancient times, including ancient Japanese culture, Greek jewelry, and Celtic knots. My plan is to continue to spread love through clay.

nature is my muse

In this example, after passing the Golden Rain tree multiple times on my daily walks, I noticed that the grey stucco behind the yellow flowers had seeped into my subconscious during the idea development phase and was revived during the glaze selections.
slightly shaky video
This is a video of the “love knots” installation in situ. It’s a bit unsteady due to my excitement about seeing the love knots hung on a wall for the first time :)
My limited workspace prevents me from viewing my large-scale work vertically until I am ready to hang it on the wall. This is very risky! However, risk-taking always motivates my creative practice as I continue to explore new ways to use my work to spread love and inspire the power of connection.
